Long term VEVA members Don Chandler and Jim Hindson will discuss with us the recent right to charge legislation and what it means for the EV community. VEVA has a long history of lobbying to the provincial government on key issues for the EV community. Both Don, Jim and the Government Relations committee were significant in bringing this legislation forward. Don in particular will remind us of the many proposals and successes of VEVA with an eye to where we should be heading.

Don Chandler

Senior EV Specialist, AES Engineering

Don is an EV specialist with a focus on removing barriers to adoption, particularly the lack of affordable and accessible infrastructure.

As a member of CSA committees, Don has drafted revisions to electrical codes and standards that enable load management of EVSEs and significantly reduce infrastructure costs.

He has recently been involved in municipal by-law and performance targets development to ensure our built environment is prepared for EVs.

Jim Hindson has had previous careers as a professional transportation engineer, an information technology director, as a business consultant and is currently a VEVA Government Relations Committee volunteer consultant.

Jim has previously been involved in the development and promotion of 100% EV infrastructure in Zoning bylaws for new construction and retrofit strategies, various initiatives for fast chargers, and per kWh fees,

He continues to work with others in the private and public sector to promote increased EV adoption through EV infrastructure retrofitting of multi unit residential buildings, right to charge, best practices for retrofitting, circuit sharing, low carbon fuel credits, and EV strata bylaws.

For our Tuesday meeting,  Jim has been asked to speak about the pending changes to the Strata Property Act for EV infrastructure and Right to Charge.

Hope to see you there.
