I just got an email from <firstname.lastname@example.org> saying my free premium connectivity would expire on 18 May 2020 and would henceforth cost $13.99 a month. My wife, a semi-famous cheapskate, urged me to start a petition to delay that transition given the ++bad cold situation and its negative effect on everyone's ability to pay for stuff. What do Tesla fans on this channel think? Is that something that might have an effect?
Cheapskates. EV owners, once they taste the light operating costs of EV's seem to get riled at paying anything for to run their EVs going forward.
Those of us able to afford new or used EVs to gain the fabulous benefits of EVs, IMHO, should not be the one's seeking handouts in front of others worse off. Pity those ICE owners who are trying to pay for brake, muffler, transmission or timing belt repairs. Catalytic converters, ... the list goes on.
Let's rise above these first world problems. Please.
Perhaps to echo John's comments.... and as a Tesla (Model 3) owner. Indeed I'd much prefer not to have this added expense. But then I recognize the value that Tesla is providing.... these connectivity data services (mostly entertainment) above the basic navigation services have to cost Tesla, and they do provide value to the user. Tesla also needs to have a sustainable business model and I certainly want to see them succeed and get more products out to the market.... from EVs, battery storage, public charging services, and solar.... I'm interested in them all...... Of course, these premium connectivity fees are optional.... so if one can't afford them for the moment, due to whatever reason, then simply don't sign up for the service.
Right. The Premium Connectivity option is clearly a non-essential add-on which costs Tesla something to provide. I personally don't miss it now that it has gone away. I'm happy just occasionally playing Chess with the car while listening to podcasts if I have to wait for an extended period while my wife is at a doctor's appointment or whatever.
